Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for managing a team of Quality Assurance Analysts who test, evaluate and validate IT initiatives and identify issues in software or services. This person will also manage the day-to-day activities of the QA team to ensure team productivity and execution to schedule. The QA Manager will analyze discrepancies in service or performance and make recommendations for product or service updates and improvements. Other responsibilities include selecting, developing and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the QA team. The QA Manager will define and implement IT quality assurance practices and procedures and ensure the appropriate level of test coverage for all applications.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Quality Assurance staff including daily productivity measurements and accuracy, individual career planning and quarterly goals analysis, annual reviews, and ancillary issues
  • Coach direct reports on a regular basis, providing direction and training on job responsibilities
  • Produce formalized documentation for all stages of test development and execution, including results
  • Provide input and guidance to less experienced QA analysts in dealing with difficult problems related to testing approaches, areas of application functionality, or specific technical knowledge
  • Oversee white box and black box testing, regression testing, load testing, and performance testing
  • Ensure the environment, data, test plans, test case library, and regression test libraries for all products are maintained and updated by QA staff
  • Participation in the planning and coordination of new product deployment, and enhancement projects
  • Research issues reported from Customer Service/Technical Support in order to address defects in the production environment
  • Provide timely, detailed, and accurate accounting for all time charged to each project
 
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must possess highly technical understanding of software development life cycle and associated processes
  • Extensive experience with web-based enterprise software development technologies is a requirement
  • Experience with .NET technologies is preferred
  • Must have very strong skills with MS-Word, MS-Project, MS-Power Point, and MS-Excel
  • Must have extensive experience with source code management systems, preferably Subversion
  • Must have excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong customer orientation, and good organizational skills
  • Must have good project management skills and proficiency with project management tools - MS Project preferred
  • Individual must be process orientated and self-motivated
  • Effectively presents information and responds to questions or inquiries from management, staff, coworkers, project managers, etc.
  • Must have experience with automated software testing tools and methodologies
  • Experience with Agile/iterative software development practices is a benefit for this position
  • Past experience as a software developer is preferred
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with at least eight years of experience in the field of software quality assurance and at least five years experience as a QA manager
